About

Our Origins

Many of us remember the beauty of attending the Albion Fairs of Norfolk and Suffolk in the 70’s and 80’s. Plenty of us also remember the UK festival scene from the 90’s onwards. By 2007 there were very few festivals happening in East Anglia, so we started one!

A few hundred friends who had spent time working on creating amazing events as part of fantastical festivals across the UK and beyond, came together at Green Man Fayre in Suffolk in the Summer of 2008 when we saw the way to bring this magic to Norfolk. It was amazing, and evolved into the first Harlequin Fayre in 2010.

Though maintaining it’s identity, culture and size are important, it continues to find exciting ways to evolve.

Our Festival

Harlequin Fayre is a long summer weekend with friends, a beautiful location, small crowds and big love. We gather to celebrate, learn, share, and play in the ever growing Harlequin community. What started as a gathering of just a few hundred people has developed as we’ve woven in more and more dynamic elements. We’re a well kept secret and a nationally known festival.

Our ever expanding offer of spaces and places allows us to deliver a stunning array of performance and entertainment.

Harnessing the elements of solar power, talent and trade under the philosophy of sustainable, low impact practises has been key in shaping our approach. We are proud that our record is one of mass recycling and awareness of the beautiful Norfolk land that we have the use of.

This family friendly and affordable event is for you to recharge, evolve, energise and learn whilst having a space to play, party and connect. We come together as people who want to get involved, some to help build the show, others prefer to perform or staff it, and some choose to buy tickets; we all have a role. Join in our common unity which stretches from peaceful walks in the woods to gregarious fancy dress, laughing kidz area to hands on crafts area, from earthed healing to the high wire.

We celebrate summer, unity and community.

Onwards…

Every year has been a stunning celebration, warm and colourful, bringing together smiling faces to meet old friends and new. We look forward to seeing you.

Big big thanks go out to everyone who’s ever been – we all make it what it is and Roll On Summer ~ see you in a fair field…
